Thumbelina Facts

Breed: Thumbelina is a miniature horse, which is also known as a mini. She is extra tiny because she is also a dwarf and that makes her a mini mini. That is why Thumbelina is the world’s smallest horse and one of the things that makes her very special.

 Type: Thumbelina is a Chestnut Mare, which means she is a girl horse with a dark brown coat. Her coat is very soft and covers her whole body. In the winter, Thumbelina coat gets extra long and fluffy.

Birthday: Thumbelina was born in the springtime on May 1st, 2001.

Home: Thumbelina was born on Goose Creek Farms in Missouri. Missouri is a state right in the middle of the United States where you will find lots of trees and rolling hills.

Height: Thumbelina is only 17 ½ inches tall. In other parts of the world, she would be measured in centimeters. In that case, she is 44.5 centimeters tall. No matter how you measure her, Thumbelina is very tiny. In fact, she is smaller than many dogs.

Weight: Thumbelina weighs 57 pounds. That is not very heavy for a horse. Other miniature horses can weigh between 175 and 225 pounds. A regular sized horse can weigh 1000 pounds.

Diet: Thumbelina eats twice a day. She eats 1 cup of grain and a handful of hay for breakfast and dinner. She may eat the same things as other horses but she eats much much less than most other horses. She does not need a lot of food because she is so tiny.

Friends: Thumbelina likes to play with the 50 other horses at Goose Creek Farms. All the horses love her very much. Sometimes Thumbelina like to play with the dogs too.
